Backpack Safety for Teenagers in the South: Choosing the Best Backpack and Using It the Right Way

Dback packo you have a child entering middle school soon? Or do you have a plan to take your kids with you on your next hunting or camping trip? If so, it is important for you to know that you and your children should be prepared for these events. And that means having all the necessary things and equipment at hand. For camping, among the essential things you need to have include tents, flashlights, cooking supplies, and foods; and for schooling, your children need new uniforms, textbooks, notebooks, and other school supplies. But aside from these, you also need to make sure that you and your children have the right gear to carry those items you need to bring with you. And the best option for that job is a backpack.

Backpacks come in a variety of shapes, sizes, colors, and fabrics to meet each user’s specific needs. They are designed to serve a lot of purpose to users. While some backpacks are primarily designed for carrying equipment, some backpacks are used only for aesthetic purposes, usually to enhance someone’s appearance. When used properly, backpacks become incredibly useful and handy. Most backpacks that are available in stores feature multiple compartments that allow users to keep their things and supplies within reach, which also help them to stay organized. Compared with other kinds of bags, such as shoulder bags and messenger bags, backpacks are considered better since they have a potential to carry heavy loads and are more comfortable to use. They are specifically designed to evenly distribute the weight of the load across the body’s strongest muscles – the back and abdominal muscles.

While backpacks are helpful in carrying your things, overloaded backpacks or improper use of them can cause health problems for children. Improper use of backpacks, such as wearing it over just one shoulder, may injure muscles and joints, which can then lead to severe shoulder pain, neck pain, and poor posture. Carrying heavy backpacks can also cause injuries and other muscle problems.

The Right Way to Wear a Backpack

To reduce the chance of injury or pain, you should educate your children on how to wear it the right way.

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) suggests:

  • Use both shoulder straps all the time.
  • Tighten the straps so that the backpack is close to the body.
  • Only carry lighter items. The pack should weigh no more than 10-20% of the user’s body weight.
  • Distribute the weight evenly. Organize heavier items close to the user’s back.
  • Don’t bring too many items. Consider only taking needed items, and leave everything else at your school locker.
  • Practice proper posture; when you need to bend down, bend at knees not the waist.
  • Strengthen your muscles around your back.

Choose the Right Backpack

There are different types and styles of backpacks available in stores, and with the so many items that claim to be the best option, choosing the best backpacks can be so tricky. Again, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) offer the following suggestions to help you find the right backpack for your child needs:

  • Choose a lightweight backpack.
  • Consider a backpack with wider, padded shoulder straps.
  • Consider a pack with two shoulder straps and padded back for comfort.
  • Consider a backpack with waist strap so that the weight of load can be distributed more evenly.
  • Choose a backpack with multiple compartments to distribute the weight more evenly and stay organized.
  • If you often carry heavier items, consider a rolling backpack.

By following these tips and suggestions, you can help your children have a safer school year and camping trip!

The official Gallup poll states that Southerners are more likely to have bad teeth. Fact?

GALLUPGallup is one of the official American based polling research companies that has gained notoriety for credibility in their polls and now has offices worldwide. Its polls are taken seriously. It works with top businesses and organizations around the world to help provide highly accurate statistics. The name Gallup floats around news organizations and popular media especially around election periods. You might have heard of it. However, this article isn’t about Gallup, it’s about one of their polls they researched that found out in their results that Southerners in the U.S. are less likely to visit the dentist.

They stated that among the results it seemed that it was possible that it was due to lower household income in the South. That, and as well as the fact that higher amounts of uninsured Americans are located in the southern states. According to the Gallup poll, the bottom of the poll listed 10 states for dental visits and were all southern states. The poll said that they were less likely to visit the dentist. It helped show why by targeting it due

Southerners have always gotten a bad rep for teeth it seems. For some reason, media has always made it a point to show that stigma and it’s grown to be more or less an urban legend that has now been proven to be true. At least by the Gallup poll. Southerners have been teased and labeled for poor teeth standards for ages. Now we find out, that yes, it does carry truth to it.

It doesn’t matter where you live however, teeth health is important. People don’t realize that poor brushing and care habits that lead to issues with teeth can cause other problems as well. On the list of such problems are cardiovascular, respiratory infecti8ons and also diabetic complications as well. Take a visit to http://gethealthyteeth.com and see about teeth care products and other information from teeth whitening to the best electric toothbrushes around.

Speaking of electric toothbrushes, it’s’ worth the investment to make in one as they provide a cleaning that is simple and on point to get a good brushing. They range in prices too from $5.00 to the $200 dollar range. You can do research on electric toothbrush reviews to see why such a difference in price and what would work best for you.

It’s truly a shame that demographics come into play when it comes to dental care. Everyone should take good care of their teeth. If its funds that hold you back, hit up a dollar store and grab a toothbrush and a tube of toothpaste and you’re only out 2 bucks. That’s all it takes when you want to get to the basics. There is no reason why we shouldn’t take care of our pearly whites. As mentioned before, poor teeth care can lead to other health complications, and there’s no reason for that. Check it out, visit your dentist regularly and who cares where you live, treat your teeth well and they’ll treat you back with a good health report and a great smile.

Grooming America, the Man and One’s Finances

new americaAcross this great nation on any given morning there is a specific ritual that is accomplished throughout the land. For the most part each man stands in front of a mirror in the bathroom and performs the daily ritual of removing facial hair. For the most part this is done with a disposable safety razor, hot water and shaving cream. The shaving device may have anywhere from one to three safety razors incorporated into the shaving device. However, consider the grooming reasons for America, a man and his pocketbook by switching to a straight edge razor for shaving.

There are many reasons why a man should consider shaving with a straight razor. Specifically, three of those reasons could be that with each shave there is an impact on the environment, money savings and the fact that the experience provides a closer shave. One of the best reasons to utilize a straight razor when shaving is that there can be a significant impact on the environment. Specifically, most men shave with a plastic safety razor that can contain anywhere from 1 to 3 blades within that shaver. Therefore, because the safety razor is designed to be disposable, when the blades become dull,8 the razor is thrown away.

Consequently, if one was to do the math, they would see that if a razor lasted anywhere from a couple of days to a week per individual over the course of a particular time frame, disposed razors would add up significantly. The significant outcome would be landfills filled with non-biodegradable plastic disposable shavers across the nation. Therefore, the best razors are straight edge razors that can help diminish the trash that is building up in our landfills for many years to come. Another reason that may be of benefit to an individual when thinking about utilizing a straight edge razor is a cost savings. This is due to the fact that safety razors are disposable and as such when they become dull and incapable of providing a close shave they are thrown away. The result is the individual needs to continually purchase safety razors. The benefit of the straight edge razor is that once the initial purchase is made along with the strap for continuing sharpening of the steel edge, there is no further need of the consumer’s money needed for razors. Consequently, after the initial purchasing of a straight edge razor, the money is recouped, after an initial time, with countless shaves being accomplished.

Finally, a significant reason for buying a straight edge razor is the comfort of shave realized as well as the closeness of the shave experienced. It is good to know that the value of a quality shave cannot be underestimated in regards to helping a man feel good about himself as well as making him feel more confident knowing that he is groomed to perfection.

Proof Clive Bundy is Not a Racist

Clive Bundy has made some really inflammatory comments in the last few weeks. These comments took him from conservative media darling to pariah with most news outlets, politicians, and indeed most Americans calling him a racist.http://www.southernparty.org/5-american-freedoms-that-have-been-lost/

But is Clive Bundy a racist? He denies it and here is proof that maybe he isn’t the racist rancher that he’s be painted.

He Made Some very Sympathetic Comments that didn’t get much Air Time

Few members of the press seem to be discussing Bundy’s comments on the Watts Riots. These are a clear indication that he is a man with sympathy and concern for the plight of minority Americans. Unfortunately, these comments were dismissed because Clive Bundy is old, and white, and lives a rural lifestyle.

“I was in the Watts riots. I seen the beginning fire and I seen the last fire. What I seen was civil disturbance, people were not happy. People thinking they don’t have freedom, didn’t have these things — and they didn’t have them. We’ve progressed quite a bit from that day until now, and we sure don’t want to go back. We sure don’t want these colored people to go back to that point. We sure don’t want the Mexican people to go back to that point. And we can make a difference right now by taking care of some of these bureaucracies and do it in a peaceful way….”

Much of what Clive Bundy says here is what is espoused by intellectuals and civil rights leaders.

His Comments about African American People

He used some pretty old-fashioned language, but let’s get real. The guy is no spring chicken. He comes from an era where “negro” was put on the birth certificates of black children. If it was an acceptable term for the medical profession, why isn’t it one he can use? Additionally, he lives in a somewhat insular part of the country where his contact with African Americans is very limited if not non-existent, so it’s likely no one took him aside and mentioned the term has fallen out of fashion with the politically correct set.

He’s a Rancher, Not a Trained Public Speaker

When you listen to his comments objectively, it seems that he was trying to say African Americans have not been treated particularly well since the Emancipation Proclamation. This is a point that most social scientist would agree with; the African American population have been treated poorly throughout the entire history of our country. Denied good education opportunities, denied the right for a long time to own property and amass and pass on generational wealth, and frequently having their rights denied them through the Justice System.

Clive Bundy ranch is invaded by snipers

Bundy is a simple rancher from a rural area and like many people who are not professional speakers, he struggles to express himself in an eloquent way. What he meant when he spoke about African Americans and welfare was that African Americans have been denied the right to succeed—much like when they were enslaved. Clive Bundy is a good man who speaks honestly if not well and that has been used against him. Clearly, he is more comfortable standing up for his rights against the BLM than he is fielding the clever questions of New York Time’s journalist or navigating press conferences.

5 American Freedoms that Have Been Lost

For several years, our civil liberties have been under attack. It’s hard to believe they are in jeopardy and it is even scarier that few people seem to be paying attention. Here are some major freedoms we have lost in recent years.

1.The Right To Vote

State legislators across the country are attempting to or have changed or denied our right to vote in elections. They do this under the guise of stopping voter fraud (although there is no hard evidence that voter fraud is an issue). This new voter suppression legislation mostly affects American minorities, the elderly, and students.

2.The Freedom To Marry Whomever We Want

While we’ve made some good strides with some states changing legislation to allow gay marriage, it is shocking how many states still refuse people the basic right to decide who they want to marry. And this isn’t just an issue facing the LGBTQ community. A few years ago, a Louisiana judge refused to wed a white girl and an African American boy on the grounds that life would be too difficult for their (non-existent) children. Government has not right in our personal lives and that includes who we marry.

3.The Freedom to Bear Arms

No one wants to see or hear about terrible mass shootings enacted by disturbed individuals who should never have been allowed near a gun. But what is even scarier is the idea that the government is using these terrible tragedies as a scare tactic to remove every American’s right to protect themselves and bear arms. Our Second Amendment gives us the right to protect ourselves, from harm and from a government that means us harm; but slowly, the rights of law-abiding citizens to protect themselves have been chipped away.http://www.salon.com/2012/08/31/ten_ways_americans_have_lost_their_freedom/

4.The Right to Become a United States Citizen

Immigration reform and illegal immigration is a hot-button issue that divides many people. Those who oppose immigration insist that “illegals” are taking jobs from Americans and draining tax-dollars with medical bills, by going on welfare, and through sending their children to public schools. But it seems many people, including the government have forgotten that our country was built on immigrants and that we have a long standing tradition of granting citizenship to people who work hard and deserve it.

5.Freedom from Government Interference in Our Private

Americans during Desert Storm

Lives This is probably the most frightening right that we have lost in recent years. After the horrific events of 9-11, the United States Government enacted a broad, sweeping law the essentially gave the government the right to delve into all parts of our personal lives. All in the name of protecting us from terrorist, of course. The enactment of the Patriot Act has allowed the government to put American citizens under surveillance, and given them access to personal phone records, and emails. It even extended the government’s grasp of what and who can be confiscated, often without the government having to answer or justify their actions.

10 Things Going Right in the USA in 2014

America is far from perfect but there are a lot of things going right in the country this year. Here is a breakdown of the things that are going really well in the country, right now.

1.   Friendliness American’s default expression is a smile. This can be attributed to our confidence in ourselves as well as being a country of extroverts. We have a skill and a talent with connecting with our neighbors and strangers and this ability has kept us feeling grounded and connected.

2.   Pride in Our Culture. It wasn’t very long ago, that Americans started to feel bad about them. We lagged behind much of the world in education and economics but that gap has been bridged and we are once again a strong educational and economic force.

3.   Free Speech. We don’t always like what the other person is saying, but boys are we proud they have the right to say it. In this regard, we are far ahead of most of the rest of world.

4.   Higher Education. We have some of the best universities in the world and top students from across the globe, flock to our country because of our outstanding educational opportunities.

5.  Our Armed Forces. Many of us are “war-weary” but that hasn’t dimmed the pride we have in our armed services people or our military. And that pride is well founded, despite the hardships our militaries face, they are still some of the best armed forces in the world and we continue our tradition of using our military force to bring democracy to other parts of the world.http://culture.squidoo.com/awful-things-about-the-army

6.   Diversity in America.Right now, America is more diverse than it has been in any point in history and the majority of Americans are embracing this diversity.

7.  Optimism and confidence. Hope America was born with an attitude of optimism and confidence. Today, we are using that confidence to fight poverty, societal injustices, and corruption. We are advancing the sciences and discovering cures at an astronomical rate and all because we have an internal belief that we can do it.

8.  The Rule of Law. We had a few shaky years, but America is getting back to being a country that is governed by law and not by men. We are starting to push back against political corruption and we are demanding that justice be doled out fairly and according to the law.

KEY_PRIMARIES021399152721

9.  Jobless Rate. Things were dire for a few years but the job market is getting better and the jobless rate is decreasing. America’s job market still isn’t as robust as it once was, but it is quickly getting better. There are fewer people out of a job this year, than there has been in the past few years.

10.  Healthcare. The healthcare roll out was rough. And most people thought it would fail. There was a lot of back and forth among the political parties but finally, the affordable care act is gaining traction and providing a real benefit to Americans. Because of it, almost 9 million Americans now have affordable health care coverage.

Protecting Your Freedom – How to Find Out Someones Phone Number that Called You

You absolutely have the right to know who called you. Was it a scammer? A harassing debt collector? An old flame? Whoever it is, if you want to exercise your right to know, do a reverse phone number lookup to find out who, exactly has been calling you. Revere number lookups are the easiest way to find out who is calling you but maybe you want to try other detective methods before paying the reverse phone lookup website fees. In that case, there are a couple other methods that could work for you.

Facebook

This social media juggernaut should be one of the first places you look when you’re trying to find out who is calling you. Facebook has millions of users and it is amazing how many of those users add their phone number to their profile. It is true that most people add their phone number as a security measure—a way to access their account if they forgot their password. But Facebook has a spotty privacy policy and if someone doesn’t check their privacy settings on a regular basis, it is entirely possible that their phone number will have been made “public” during one of the many Facebook upgrades. To search Facebook for a phone number, just type the number into the Facebook search bar.http://www.civilfreedoms.org/?page_id=62

Try the White pages

It may sound old-fashioned but a surprising number of people are still listed in the white pages and other phone books and many of these directories have search bars that allow you to enter a phone number and a reverse search.

The reason many people are listed in phone directories is that you usually have to pay a few to be unlisted. This is great news if someone called you from a landline.

Try Major Search Engines

If the phone number has ever been listed on a blog, or public post it will probably be found through a search on Google, Yahoo, or Bing. You can then usually figure out who called you based on the information that comes up with the phone number. Even if a phone number is on a resume that is entered into a job searching website (Monster, Career), it can be found through a search engine.

Use Smaller Search Engines

There are a few niche search engines that just pull up information on people. Many times, you can enter the phone number that called you and these search engines will pull up any information related to that number. Figure out where the area code is from when you’re dealing with mobile phones, it can be harder to find information about who called you. One thing to try is to figure out where the area is from. Then narrow your search geographically.for more information, visit the original source.

Protecting Your Freedom

Call the number back this should be a last ditch effort and it takes a little planning. But sometimes the only way to know who is calling you is to call them back. However, to protect yourself, you should call from a phone that isn’t yours. It is also not a good idea to call from a work phone. Try to call from a pay phone (hard to find) or a phone at your gym or even a neighbor’s phone.

Difference Between Health and Life Insurance Coverage in Canada and the US

Life insurance in Canada and the United States are surprisingly similar. In both countries, you can get Term Life Insurance or Whole Life Insurance. Life insurance in Canada is offered by many companies, just like in the States. And Canadians can choose between several different policy types, depending on their needs. In both countries, it is advised that people who are fit and young, purchase a Term Life insurance policy. This sort of policy is usually inexpensive and it expires without paying out the policy if the insured survives until the policy expires. In the States, it is not uncommon for an insurance company to offer to discount the price of a new Term Life or a Whole Life policy when the initial Term Life policy expires.http://www.southernparty.org/protecting-your-freedom-how-to-find-out-someones-phone-number-that-called-you/

This allows the policy holder to remain insured more easily. How Much Insurance Do You Need? Before deciding how much insurance to purchase, it is important to take stock of your monthly bills, your debts and whether you would be leaving behind young dependents. All of this information will help you decide how much and what type of insurance policy to purchase. Difference Between Health Care Coverage in Canada and the US For a long time, Canada and the US had similar health care systems.

Then in the 1960s and 1970s, Canada started to switch their system and the US continued with a mostly private-based health insurance system. One of the huge differences is that the US spends a lot more on health insurance than Canada, almost double the cost per person, as a matter of fact. There have been a lot of comparisons between the two healthcare systems, especially since Canadians have a longer life expectancy and a lower infant mortality rate than the US. And despite the lower cost of healthcare in Canada, Canadians seem to have better outcomes than US patients.

Many people call Canada’s health insurance system “socialized medicine” but this is incorrect. The Canadian government provides financial assistance for both private and public delivery and physicians and hospitals are part of the private sector and not a part of the government. However, in the United States, federal funding of health care is strictly limited to federal programs like Medicare, Medicaid, CHIPS (for children), and Veteran and government hospitals for the military.

Anyone outside these programs must purchase private insurance. Many times, some of the cost of private insurance is offset by employer contributions. In the early 2000s, more than 50% of US citizens had access to health insurance through their jobs but that percentage is shrinking. Access to Healthcare

Life Insurance

Canada and the US have both struggled with providing access to healthcare to all of its citizens, but the issues are different. In the US, almost 40% of Americans don’t have adequate insurance and in Canada, as much as 5% of Canadians can’t find a regular doctor.

However, in Canada, every Canadian is covered by the national healthcare system. But in the US, the elderly, poor, disabled, and children would be left without health care if it weren’t for the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act. However, EMTALA only covers emergency situations, not regular healthcare or treatment for chronic diseases.
